Charitable Contributions
Getting involved in charity activities is an excellent way of building and strengthening bonds within the Taylor Lane team, and on occasion, with suppliers, customers and communities. The benefits are far-reaching.
In November 1982, Colin Taylor and Barrie Lane started Taylor Lane Timber Frame Ltd. Each with a decade of timber frame experience, they began building frames in a small factory unit in Hereford.
1987 saw us build our first purpose-built factory and offices on Chapel Road, Hereford. This remains our main site today. The office has been extended over the years to accommodate our 60+ office staff and the factory is now our steel fabrication building.
With a reputation for high-quality self-build and one-off properties, the 1990s saw us extend our offering, opening up to the commercial sector, providing kits for developers, contractors and local authorities. The commercial market has since grown to become our core business.
In the early 00s we purchased two further sites, Thorn and Gatehouse, also on the Rotherwas Industrial Estate, Hereford. Aiding our expansion, these two factories remain key in our production process.
After sustained growth and the sad loss of Joint MD Barrie Lane, we’ve restructured - promoting long-serving team members to director roles: Steve Griffiths (Technical), Liam Hale (Construction), Paul Harris (Contracts), Jon Lane (Commercial) and Wayne Ricketts (Sales). Co-founder Colin Taylor remains MD.
We are incredibly proud to be celebrating 40 years in business. This is a wonderful achievement and is testament to the dedication, hard-work and commitment of our founders, directors, management and staff – past and present. We are one of the longest-serving timber frame manufacturers in the UK.
On 4th May we announced new ownership of Taylor Lane Timber Frame following an acquisition by major UK home builder, Cala Group. Co-founder Colin Taylor has taken this opportunity to retire from the business and Jonathan Lane has accepted the position of Managing Director.
In 2025 we saw our busiest year for both turn over and production. This came with its own challenges however the Taylor Lane team embraced the challenge and preformed to levels the business had never experienced. We manufactured in the region of 1500 dwellings for the year 2025.
